Digital Planning Basics

New to digital planning? You're in the right place!

Digital planning might seem a little confusing at first, but it's much simpler than you think. Whether you're switching from paper planners or trying planning for the first time, this guide will walk you through the basics.

What Is Digital Planning?

Digital planning is a way to organize your daily life using a digital device instead of a traditional paper planner.

Think of it as your favorite paper planner, but on a screen!

You can write down your tasks, organize your schedule, track your habits, journal, and much more.

Unlike a regular planning app, many digital planners are interactive PDF files designed to be used inside note-taking apps.

That means you can still enjoy handwriting, decorating pages, and personalizing your planner, just like you would on paper.

How Does a Digital Planner Work?

Most digital planners work like interactive notebooks.

They're designed with pages, tabs, and clickable links to help you move between sections without flipping through hundreds of pages.

Here's what you can do:

  • Write & Draw: Use a stylus, your finger, or typing tools, depending on your app.
  • Navigate Easily: Tap linked tabs, dates, or buttons to move between pages.
  • Personalize Pages: Add digital stickers, images, and handwritten notes.
  • Reuse Templates: Duplicate compatible pages whenever you need extra space.
  • Keep Everything Together: Access your planner and notes in one app.
♡

A Little Reminder: Your planner's features depend on its design and the app you're using. Not all apps support the same tools.

What Do You Need to Get Started?

You only need three things:

1. A Compatible Device

A tablet is a popular choice, but some digital planners can also be used on phones or computers.

2. A Note-Taking App

This is where you'll open your planner, write on its pages, and use its features.

3. A Digital Planner

Choose a planner that fits your needs, download it, and import it into your chosen app.

A stylus is optional, but it can make handwriting and drawing feel more natural.

Digital vs. Paper Planning

Love paper planners? You don't have to give up that feeling!

Digital planning gives you many familiar features, with some extra flexibility.

There's no universally better option. It's all about finding what works for you!

Tips for First-Time Digital Planners

1. Start Small

You don't need to fill in every page of your planner. Start with your daily tasks or weekly schedule and explore the other sections at your own pace.

2. Try Before You Buy

Not sure whether digital planning is right for you? You don't have to commit to a full planner just yet!

At Fureesia Planners, we offer free Try Before You Buy previews so you can experience our digital planners, notebooks, and journals before purchasing their full versions.

Explore the layouts, test the features, and discover what works best for you.

3. Make It Your Own

Experiment with different handwriting styles, colors, and digital stickers. Fureesia also offers digital stationery to help you personalize your planning experience.

4. Don't Aim for Perfection

Missed a few days? That's completely okay! Your planner is there to support you, not become another task on your to-do list.

5. Keep a Backup

Enable your note-taking app's backup or sync feature if available, and consider exporting a copy of your annotated planner to protect your work.

Ready to Begin?

Now that you know the basics, it's time to choose your setup and start exploring.

Remember, planning is about progress, not perfection.

01 · Getting started

Apps & Compatibility

Find the digital planning setup that feels right for you. ♡

New to digital planning? Not sure which device or note-taking app to use?

Don't worry, lovely! Whether you're using an iPad, an Android tablet, or a computer, there are plenty of ways to enjoy digital planning.

At Fureesia Planners, our digital planners, notebooks, and journals are designed as interactive PDF files that you can use with compatible note-taking and PDF annotation apps.

However, not every app offers the same features. This guide will help you explore your options and choose what works best for you!

Which Devices Can You Use?

You don't necessarily need an iPad to start digital planning! Your experience will depend on your device, preferred app, and the features you want to use.

Apple Devices (iPad & iPhone)

iPads are popular for digital planning because they offer handwriting, interactive PDF navigation, and plenty of creative note-taking tools.

With a compatible Apple Pencil or stylus, you can enjoy an experience similar to writing in a paper notebook.

iPhones can also open and annotate PDFs using supported apps, although their smaller screens may make detailed planning less comfortable.

Android Devices

Android tablets and smartphones are also great options!

Many Android apps support PDF annotation, handwriting, highlighting, and interactive navigation. Tablets with a compatible stylus can be especially convenient.

Keep in mind that some advanced features and app integrations are exclusive to certain devices or operating systems.

Windows & Mac

Prefer planning on your computer? You can use compatible PDF annotation software to open your digital planner, type notes, and navigate its pages.

However, some handwriting, customization, and shortcut features may work differently or be unavailable on desktop.

i

A Little Tip: If you plan to use Fureesia's Apple Shortcuts integrations, check the specific product requirements first. These integrations are separate from the planner's regular PDF features.

Explore Note-Taking Apps

Choosing the right app can make your digital planning experience much more enjoyable.

Most note-taking apps offer essentials like pens, highlighters, text boxes, and PDF annotation. However, some also include exciting features such as AI assistance, audio recording, flashcards, handwriting recognition, and advanced organization tools.

Here's a comparison to help you discover what makes each app special.

Which App Should You Choose?

There's no single perfect app for everyone!

If you want an all-around digital planning experience, Goodnotes is a popular choice.

Prefer something simple and organized? Noteful is worth exploring.

Love creative tools and customization? Take a look at CollaNote or Noteshelf.

If you enjoy studying, recording lectures, and creating study materials, Notability may be especially interesting.

For Android users, Samsung Notes, Flexcil, and Xodo are also worth considering, depending on your device.

Ultimately, choose an app that supports the features you need and feels comfortable to use.

You don't need every fancy feature to enjoy digital planning!

Download & Import

Learn how to download, unzip, and import your digital files into your favorite note-taking app.

Before You Begin

Most of my products download as either:

  • a PDF file
  • a ZIP file
  • or a folder with extra items like stickers, covers, fonts or shortcut files

If your file downloads as a ZIP, you’ll need to unzip it first before importing anything into your app.

If you already have a PDF ready to go, you can skip straight to Import into Goodnotes below.

i

Quick Note: If you bought your product through Gumroad, you can download it from your purchase email or from your Gumroad library.

Unzip Your Files

On iPad

  1. Save your zip file on your Files app.
  2. Open the Files app and find the ZIP file.
  3. Tap the ZIP file once.
  4. A new folder will appear with the unzipped files inside.

On Android Tablet

  1. Open your device's Files or My Files app.
  2. Go to Downloads and locate the ZIP file you downloaded.
  3. Tap the ZIP file to open it. If it doesn't open, press and hold the file and look for Extract or Unzip in the menu.
  4. Tap Extract or Extract All (the wording depends on your device).
  5. If asked, choose where you want to save the extracted files, then tap Extract or Done.
  6. Open the newly created folder to access your PDF, stickers, or other files.
i

Note: The exact steps may vary depending on your Android device and file manager. If your file manager doesn't support ZIP extraction, try Files by Google or another trusted file manager.

On MacOS

  1. Find the ZIP file in your Downloads folder or wherever you saved it.
  2. Double-click the ZIP file.
  3. A new folder with the unzipped files will appear automatically.

On Windows

  1. Find the ZIP file in your Downloads folder or wherever you saved it.
  2. Right-click the ZIP file.
  3. Select Extract All.
  4. Choose where you want the files to go, then open the new folder.

Import into Goodnotes

Method 1: From the Files app

  1. Open the PDF file in the Files app.
  2. Tap the Share icon.
  3. Scroll through the app options and tap Open in Goodnotes.
  4. Goodnotes will open automatically.
  5. Tap Import as New Document.

Method 2: From inside GoodNotes

  1. Open the GoodNotes app.
  2. Tap the + New button.
  3. Select Import from the options.
  4. Find your PDF file in the Files app.
  5. Tap the file to import it.

Using Another App or Device?

The instructions above use Goodnotes on iPad as an example, but you can follow a similar process on other devices, including Android tablets, Android phones, iPhones, Windows, and Mac computers.

Method 1: From Your Files: Open your downloaded PDF, tap Share or Open With, and select your preferred note-taking app, if available.

Method 2: From Your App: Open your note-taking app, look for Import, Open PDF, or Add Document, and select your downloaded file.

The exact buttons and steps may look slightly different depending on your device and app, but the general process is the same.

i

Tip: If you're unsure which method to use, I recommend Method 2, as most compatible PDF note-taking apps offer a way to open or import files directly.

!

Downloaded your files on a different device? You can transfer them using a cloud storage service such as Google Drive or iCloud Drive, or a compatible file-sharing method such as AirDrop.

Once your files are on the device you want to use, follow the import instructions above.

Still Having Trouble?

If your file will not open, import or download correctly, check the Troubleshooting section of the Support Hub.

Covers & Stickers

Personalize your planners with custom covers, digital stickers, and easy customization tips.

♡

A Little Note: My products come with multiple covers in a PDF format, the main product comes with a built in cover that you can change with whatever other covers you like.

One of the loveliest things about digital planning is making everything your own!

Whether you want to change your notebook cover, decorate your pages, or organize your favorite stickers, this guide will walk you through the process.

I'll be using Goodnotes on iPad for the examples, but many other note-taking apps offer similar customization tools.

Change Your Cover

How to Add a New Cover in Goodnotes

  1. Open the PDF with the covers that comes with the purchased product.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu (•••) in the top-right corner of the cover page you like.
  3. Select Copy Page.
  4. Open the planners and tap the + icon to add a new page.
  5. Select Before or After to determine where the new cover will go.
  6. Choose Paste Page from the menu to insert the copied cover.
i

Tip: Adding a new cover doesn't automatically remove the previous one. You can keep both or remove the old cover using the steps below.

How to Remove an Old Cover

  1. Open your planner or notebook in Goodnotes.
  2. Tap the Thumbnails icon to view your pages.
  3. Find the cover you want to remove.
  4. Tap the small arrow on its thumbnail to open the page menu.
  5. Select Move to Trash or the available delete option.
  6. Confirm the action if prompted.
!

Important: If you're using a hyperlinked planner, deleting pages may affect navigation. I recommend keeping a backup before removing any pages, especially pages containing linked tabs or buttons.

Add Digital Stickers

Method 1: Import a Sticker Collection

Some sticker packs include files designed specifically for certain note-taking apps, allowing you to import multiple stickers into a reusable collection.

Before you begin: Make sure your sticker pack includes a file format supported by your note-taking app. For example, Goodnotes Elements collections use .collection files. Other apps may use different formats or import methods.

Import a Goodnotes Elements File

  1. Download and unzip your sticker pack, if necessary.
  2. Locate the .collection file included with your purchase.
  3. Open Goodnotes and tap the Elements Tool (star icon).
  4. Open the Elements collections menu and choose the option to import a collection.
  5. Select your .collection file.
  6. Your stickers will appear as a reusable Elements collection.

Create a Collection from PNG Stickers

If you have individual PNG stickers, you can also organize them into an Elements collection:

  1. In Goodnotes, tap the Elements Tool (star icon).
  2. Tap the + button to create a collection.
  3. Give your collection a name.
  4. Select Add Photos or Import from...
  5. Choose the PNG stickers you'd like to include.
  6. Tap Create to save your collection.
!

Important: Some note-taking apps, including Noteful, offer ways to organize reusable stickers or elements. However, their collection formats and import features may differ from Goodnotes. Check that your sticker pack includes a format supported by your app. If your sticker files aren't compatible with your app's collection system, use Method 2 below.

Method 2: Add Individual PNG Stickers

This method is useful if your sticker pack doesn't include a compatible collection file or if you prefer importing stickers individually.

  1. Open your planner or notebook in your preferred note-taking app.
  2. Select the Image Tool or Insert Image option.
  3. Choose Photos or Files, depending on where your stickers are saved.
  4. Select the PNG sticker you'd like to use.
  5. Place it on your page and adjust its size or position.
i

A Little Tip: Transparent PNG stickers are especially useful for digital planning because they don't have a solid background covering your planner pages.

Method 3: Copy Stickers from a Sticker Book

If your stickers come in a digital sticker book, you can copy them directly into your planner.

  1. Import and open the sticker book in Goodnotes.
  2. Select the Lasso Tool.
  3. Draw around the sticker you want to use.
  4. Tap your selection and choose Copy.
  5. Open your planner and navigate to the desired page.
  6. Press and hold an empty area, then select Paste.
  7. Move or resize the sticker as you like.
i

Note: The Lasso Tool works with selectable objects. If your sticker book contains flattened images rather than individual selectable stickers, you may need to crop or import the designs separately.

Using Your Stickers

Once your stickers are on the page, you can move, resize, copy, and remove them whenever you want.

Move & Resize

  1. Select the sticker using the Image Tool or Lasso Tool, depending on how it was inserted.
  2. Drag the selected sticker to your preferred position.
  3. Use the resize handles to make it bigger or smaller.
  4. Tap outside the selection when you're finished.

Copy & Duplicate

  1. Select the sticker.
  2. Open the selection menu and tap Copy.
  3. Press and hold where you'd like another sticker.
  4. Select Paste.

You can repeat this as many times as you like!

Delete a Sticker

  1. Select the sticker you want to remove.
  2. Open its selection menu.
  3. Tap Delete.
!

Be sure you're selecting only the sticker and not other annotations nearby.

Using Another App or Device?

These tutorials use Goodnotes on iPad as an example, but many of the same ideas apply to other compatible note-taking apps, including Noteful, Noteshelf, CollaNote, Penly, and Samsung Notes.

Depending on your app, look for tools such as:

  • Add Image / Insert Image to import stickers.
  • Selection / Lasso Tool to move or copy stickers.
  • Manage Pages / Thumbnails to insert, rearrange, or remove covers.
i

Installing Fonts

Step-by-step instructions for installing and using custom fonts on different devices.

Want to make your digital planner, notebook, or journal feel more personal? Custom fonts are a lovely way to change the look of your notes!

If you've downloaded a font from Fureesia Planners, this guide will help you install it on your device and use it in compatible apps.

Before You Begin

Most downloadable fonts come in one of these formats:

  • TTF (.ttf): TrueType font.
  • OTF (.otf): OpenType font.
  • ZIP (.zip): A compressed folder that may contain multiple font styles or formats.

Both TTF and OTF are commonly supported, but compatibility depends on your device and app.

!

Important: If your font comes in a ZIP folder, extract it before installing. You can follow my Download & Import guide if you need help unzipping files.

Install Fonts on iPad & iPhone

Apple devices generally require a font installation app to install downloaded custom fonts for use in compatible apps.

For this tutorial, I'll use iFont as an example.

Using iFont

  1. Download iFont from the App Store.
  2. Save your downloaded font file to the Files app.
  3. Open iFont and select Open Files.
  4. Locate your TTF or OTF font and import it.
  5. Open Imported Fonts and tap Install beside your font.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the font configuration profile, if requested.
  7. Open Settings and follow the profile installation prompt. You may need to go to General → VPN & Device Management.
  8. Return to your note-taking app and look for the new font in its text tool.
!

Important: Only install configuration profiles from apps and sources you trust. A font installation profile is different from simply opening a PDF or image.

Where Can I Find My Installed Fonts?

On your iPad or iPhone, open Settings → General → Fonts to view supported installed fonts.

Some apps may need to be restarted before a newly installed font appears.

Install Fonts on Android

Android font installation works differently depending on your device and the app you're using.

Some note-taking and design apps allow you to import custom font files directly, while others only use fonts available through your device's system.

Importing a Font into a Compatible App

  1. Download the font to your Android device.
  2. Extract the ZIP file if necessary.
  3. Open the app where you'd like to use the font.
  4. Go to its text, font, or typography settings.
  5. Look for Import Font, Add Font, or a similar option.
  6. Select your downloaded TTF or OTF file.
  7. Choose the imported font when adding text.
i

Note: Not every Android app supports custom font importing, and installing a font for one app doesn't necessarily make it available in other apps. If your app doesn't have a custom font option, check its official support documentation for compatible methods.

Install Fonts on Windows

Windows makes installing custom fonts simple!

  1. Download your font file.
  2. Extract it first if it's inside a ZIP folder.
  3. Open File Explorer and locate the TTF or OTF file.
  4. Right-click the font file.
  5. Select Install or Install for all users.
  6. Wait for the installation to finish.

Your font should now be available in compatible Windows applications.

Check Your Installed Fonts

Open Settings → Personalization → Fonts to view the fonts installed on your computer.

If your font doesn't appear in an application immediately, close and reopen that app.

Install Fonts on Mac

On macOS, you can install custom fonts using Font Book.

  1. Download your font file.
  2. Extract it if necessary.
  3. Open Finder and locate the TTF or OTF file.
  4. Double-click the font file.
  5. Click Install in the font preview window.
  6. Font Book will check and install your font.

You can open Font Book anytime to view, organize, or manage installed fonts.

Use Custom Fonts in Goodnotes

Once your font is installed on your iPad or Mac, you can use it in Goodnotes if the font is available to the app.

  1. Open your planner or notebook in Goodnotes.
  2. Select the Text Tool.
  3. Tap an existing text box or create a new one.
  4. Open the font selection menu.
  5. Search for or scroll to your installed font.
  6. Select it and start typing!
i

Tip: Goodnotes uses available system fonts on supported Apple devices. If your new font doesn't appear, try restarting Goodnotes and checking that the font installed successfully.

Using Another App?

Not using Goodnotes? No worries!

Apps such as Noteful, Noteshelf, CollaNote, Penly, and other note-taking apps may offer different ways to select or import fonts.

Some use installed system fonts, while others support importing font files directly.

Check your app's font settings to see which methods and file formats it supports.

Font Not Showing Up?

If you've installed your font but can't find it in your app, try these quick checks:

  1. Check the file format. Make sure the font is a supported TTF or OTF file.
  2. Confirm installation. Check your device's installed fonts or the app's imported font library.
  3. Restart the app. Close and reopen the app after installing the font.
  4. Check compatibility. Not all apps support custom fonts.
  5. Try reinstalling. If the installation failed, delete the incomplete installation and try again.

For additional help, visit Troubleshooting → File & App Issues.

♡

A Little Reminder: Fonts can make your notes look beautiful, but you don't need the fanciest handwriting or the perfect layout to enjoy digital planning.

If you've purchased one of my Fureesia fonts, remember to check the included usage information before using it in personal or commercial projects.

Download Issues

Having trouble accessing your files? Let's sort it out! ♡

Can't find your purchase email? Is your download refusing to start? Don't worry, lovely!

I've put together some quick solutions to the most common download and purchase issues.

Since all Fureesia products are purchased and delivered through Gumroad, some problems may be related to your Gumroad account, payment, browser, or device.

Find your issue below and follow the steps to get back on track.

Tap the problem you have:

01I Didn't Receive My Purchase Email

After a successful checkout, Gumroad normally sends a receipt containing a link to your digital product.

If you haven't received it:

  1. Check your Spam, Junk, Promotions, and other email folders.
  2. Search your inbox for Gumroad or Fureesia Planners.
  3. Make sure you're checking the email address used during checkout.
  4. If you used PayPal, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, check whether a different email address was associated with your payment.
  5. If you have a Gumroad account, check your Gumroad Library.
!

Still missing? Visit Gumroad's Receipt Help Guide.

!

If you believe you entered the wrong email address, contact me with your product name, purchase date, and the email address you intended to use. I can help check your order.

02I Can't Find My Purchase in Gumroad

Purchased a Fureesia product but can't see it in your Library?

Try the following:

  1. Visit Gumroad and sign in.
  2. Open your Library.
  3. Make sure you're using the same email address you used at checkout.
  4. Search for Fureesia Planners or the product name.
  5. If you purchased without an account, use the View Content link in your purchase email instead.
♡

Good to Know: You don't need a Gumroad account to buy my products! You can access your purchase directly from your receipt. If you create an account using the same email address afterward, eligible past purchases can appear in your Library.

04My File Won't Download

If you can access your purchase but the download doesn't start or finish:

  1. Check that your internet connection is stable.
  2. Make sure your device has enough available storage.
  3. Try downloading the file again.
  4. Check your browser's download history for an interrupted or blocked download.
  5. Try another browser or device if the issue continues.
i

Using a tablet or phone? Some large files or ZIP folders may be easier to download and manage using a browser or computer rather than the Gumroad mobile app.

!

If you consistently receive an error from Gumroad, contact Gumroad Support.

05I Can't Open or Extract My ZIP File

Some of my digital products come as ZIP files containing PDFs, stickers, covers, or other resources.

If your ZIP file won't open:

  1. Make sure the download has finished completely.
  2. Locate the ZIP file in your device's Downloads folder.
  3. Use your device's file manager to extract it.
  4. If extraction fails, delete the incomplete download and download a fresh copy.
  5. Try another supported file manager if your current one doesn't recognize ZIP files.
i

Need Instructions? Visit Setup & Customization → Download & Import to learn how to extract ZIP files on iPad, Android, Windows, and Mac.

!

If the ZIP still won't extract after downloading it again, contact me with the product name and the error message.

06My Payment Went Through, but I Can't Access My Purchase

If your payment appears to have been charged but you haven't received your product, first check whether the payment was completed or is still pending.

  1. Look for a purchase confirmation from Gumroad.
  2. Check the payment status in your bank or payment service.
  3. Check your Gumroad Library using your purchase email.
  4. If your payment is confirmed but your purchase is missing, contact Gumroad Support.

Sometimes a pending authorization can appear as a charge even when a purchase hasn't successfully completed.

!

Important: Don't immediately purchase the same product again. Check your payment status first to avoid a possible duplicate charge.

File & App Issues

Something not working as expected? Let's figure it out together! ♡

Having trouble opening your digital planner, using hyperlinks, or importing your files?

Don't worry, lovely! I've gathered some common issues and simple solutions to help you get everything working again.

Find the problem you're experiencing below and follow the steps.

Tap the problem you have:

01My File Won't Open

If your downloaded file won't open, try these steps:

  1. Check the file format. Most of my digital products come as PDF files. If your download is a ZIP file, extract it first.
  2. Use a compatible app. Try opening the PDF in Goodnotes, Noteful, Penly, or another compatible PDF app.
  3. Check the download. Make sure the file downloaded completely and isn't showing a size of 0 KB.
  4. Try opening it elsewhere. Open the PDF in another PDF viewer to see whether the issue is related to your app.
  5. Download it again. If the file appears damaged, download a fresh copy through your Gumroad purchase.
02My File Won't Import

If your PDF opens normally but won't import into your note-taking app:

  1. Make sure you're importing a PDF, not the original ZIP folder.
  2. Check that your app supports PDF imports.
  3. Make sure your device has enough available storage.
  4. Close and reopen your note-taking app.
  5. Try importing the PDF directly from inside the app instead of using your device's Share menu.
  6. If the problem continues, test the file in another compatible PDF app.
!

Some apps may restrict imports based on file size, subscription, or device compatibility.

04Some Pages Are Blank or Missing

If certain pages appear blank, won't load, or seem to be missing:

  1. Wait a few seconds to see whether the page finishes loading.
  2. Close and reopen your note-taking app.
  3. Check whether the original PDF displays the same issue in another PDF viewer.
  4. Make sure your app and device software are up to date.
  5. If necessary, download the original file again and import a fresh copy.
05My Planner Is Slow or Keeps Crashing

Some digital planners contain hundreds of pages, hyperlinks, or detailed graphics.

Depending on your device and app, larger files may take longer to load.

Try the following:

  1. Close other apps you're not using.
  2. Restart your note-taking app.
  3. Restart your device if the issue continues.
  4. Check that your device has enough available storage.
  5. Update your note-taking app to a stable, compatible version.
  6. Check whether the problem happens with other PDF files.
!

If your app crashes repeatedly when importing or opening large files, check its official support documentation.

06I Can't Write or Edit My Planner

If your planner opens but you can't write, draw, type, or add stickers, check your app's editing tools.

  1. Open your planner.
  2. Check whether you're in Read Only Mode.
  3. Switch back to Edit Mode.
  4. Select the Pen Tool, Text Tool, or another editing tool.
  5. Try adding a small annotation to the page.

Look for an Edit, Annotate, or Markup option.

!

Keep in mind that some free PDF viewers only allow you to view documents, not edit or annotate them.

07My Stickers, Covers, or Fonts Aren't Working

Make sure you're using a supported image or collection format. Individual PNG files are usually a useful alternative when an app-specific sticker collection isn't compatible.

Check that you've inserted or copied the cover into the correct document and that your app supports page management.

Make sure the font is installed correctly and supported by your device or app. Restart the app if necessary.

For complete instructions, visit:

08My App Doesn't Support Certain Features

Not every note-taking app offers the same tools, even when it supports PDF imports.

For example, some apps may have limitations involving:

  • Hyperlinked PDF navigation.
  • Page duplication and rearrangement.
  • Custom font installation.
  • Sticker collections or image importing.
  • Apple Shortcuts integrations.
  1. Check the app's supported features and device requirements.
  2. Make sure you're using an up-to-date, compatible version.
  3. Test the feature using a free Fureesia preview, if available.
  4. Consider using another compatible app if an essential feature isn't supported.

09Still Need Help?

To help me understand the issue, please include:

  • Product name: Which Fureesia product are you using?
  • Device: iPad, Android, Windows, Mac, or another device?
  • App: Which note-taking app are you using?
  • Problem: What's happening, and what have you already tried?
  • Screenshot: A screenshot or short screen recording of the issue, if possible.

If the problem appears to be caused by the note-taking app itself, its official support team may also be able to help.

Shortcut Issues

Find quick fixes for shortcut installation errors, permissions, and integrations that won't run.

Some of my Fureesia products include shortcut integrations designed to make digital planning more convenient.

If a shortcut isn't installing, doesn't respond, or displays an error, don't worry! I've put together some simple solutions to help you figure out what's going wrong.

Tap the problem you have:

01Before You Begin

The shortcut integrations covered here use Apple's Shortcuts app and require a compatible Apple device.

Regular PDF planning features can still be used without these optional integrations.

02I Can't Install a Shortcut

Having trouble adding a shortcut to your device?

  1. Make sure you're using a compatible iPhone or iPad with Apple's Shortcuts app installed.
  2. Open the shortcut installation link provided with your Fureesia purchase.
  3. Follow the prompts to review and add the shortcut.
  4. Open the Shortcuts app and check whether it appears under All Shortcuts.
  5. If the installation link won't open, try opening it in Safari.
!

Important: Only install shortcuts from sources you trust. Review the actions and permissions before adding a shortcut.

If the installation link is missing from your purchase, check the files included in your Gumroad download.

i

For the complete setup process, visit Setup & Customization → Shortcut Integration.

03My Shortcut Isn't Running

Installed the shortcut, but nothing happens when you tap it?

  1. Open the Shortcuts app.
  2. Find the shortcut you're trying to use.
  3. Tap it to run it directly.
  4. Follow any on-screen instructions or permission requests.
  5. Check whether an error message appears.

If the shortcut works directly in Apple's Shortcuts app but not from your Fureesia planner, the issue may involve the planner's external link or your PDF app.

If it fails inside the Shortcuts app too, check the individual actions for missing information or configuration errors.

i

Tip: Testing the shortcut directly is a useful way to identify whether the problem is with the shortcut itself or how it's being launched.

04My Planner's Shortcut Button Isn't Working

Some Fureesia products contain linked buttons designed to open or run shortcuts.

If tapping a button doesn't do anything:

  1. Check that the required shortcut has been installed.
  2. Open your planner in a compatible PDF annotation app.
  3. Switch to Reading or View Mode, if required.
  4. Tap the shortcut button again.
  5. If your app displays an external-link confirmation, review the destination and allow it if you trust it.
  6. Test the shortcut directly from Apple's Shortcuts app.

Using Goodnotes

Try switching to Read Only Mode before tapping the linked button.

You can also press and hold a hyperlink while editing and select Open Link when available.

!

Important: Some PDF apps may not support the external links used by shortcut integrations, even if ordinary page-navigation hyperlinks work correctly.

i

For general hyperlink problems, visit Troubleshooting → File & App Issues.

05I'm Getting a Permission Error

Some shortcuts need permission to access apps or information on your device.

If you see a permission request:

  1. Read what the shortcut is asking to access.
  2. Choose Allow Once or Always Allow only if you recognize and trust the requested action.
  3. Run the shortcut again to see whether the problem is resolved.

Already Denied Permission?

You can review permissions for an individual shortcut:

  1. Open the Shortcuts app.
  2. Find the affected shortcut and open its editor.
  3. Open the shortcut's Details.
  4. Select Privacy, if available.
  5. Review or reset its existing permissions.
  6. Run the shortcut again and respond to the new permission prompt.
♡

A Little Reminder: Some shortcuts require access to apps, files, reminders, or other information to perform their intended actions. Don't grant access to anything you don't understand or trust.

06My Shortcut Opens the Wrong App or Doesn't Open Anything

If your shortcut is supposed to open an app but doesn't behave as expected:

  1. Make sure the destination app is installed on your device.
  2. Open that app normally to confirm it works.
  3. Open Shortcuts and find the affected shortcut.
  4. Check whether its app-opening action points to the correct app.
  5. If the shortcut contains an unfinished action, select the intended app or option.
  6. Run the shortcut again to test it.

Some apps have different names or actions depending on the installed version.

i

Using a custom app shortcut? Visit Setup & Customization → App Shortcuts for the complete instructions.

07I See “Shortcut Not Found”

This error can appear when a link tries to run a shortcut that isn't available under the expected name. Try the following:

  1. Open Shortcuts → All Shortcuts.
  2. Check whether the required shortcut is installed.
  3. If it isn't there, install it using the original link provided with your purchase.
  4. If it is installed, check that its name matches the name expected by the integration.
  5. If you renamed it, try restoring its original name.
  6. Test the shortcut again.
!

Important: Some integrations use links that refer to a shortcut by its name. Renaming the shortcut may prevent those links from finding it.

08My Shortcut Stopped Working

If your shortcut worked before but suddenly stopped:

  1. Restart your device.
  2. Open the Shortcuts app and run the shortcut directly.
  3. Check whether the apps used by the shortcut are still installed and functioning.
  4. Review any error messages or new permission requests.
  5. Check whether an updated shortcut version is available in your Fureesia purchase files.
  6. If necessary, back up any customized actions before reinstalling the original shortcut.

Apple and third-party app updates can sometimes change how certain shortcut actions behave.

!

Please Note: Reinstalling a shortcut may replace any personal customizations you've made to it.

09Can I Use These Shortcuts on Android or Windows?

Apple Shortcuts integrations are designed for supported Apple devices.

If you're using an Android tablet, Android phone, or Windows computer, these integrations generally won't run through Apple's Shortcuts app.

However, you can still enjoy the regular features of your compatible Fureesia PDF planner, such as writing, organizing pages, and using supported internal hyperlinks.

i

Not sure whether your device is compatible? Visit Getting Started → Apps & Compatibility.

I also offer free product previews so you can test the regular PDF features in your preferred app before purchasing.

FAQs

Find answers to common questions about my products, purchases, compatibility, and downloads.

Have a question about my products, your purchase, or digital planning in general?

I've gathered answers to some of the most common questions below. If you need more detailed instructions, you'll also find helpful guides throughout the Support Hub.

Products & Compatibility

01Do you sell physical or digital products?

I only sell digital products, including planners, notebooks, journals, stickers, and fonts.

Nothing will be physically shipped to you. Once your purchase is confirmed through Gumroad, you can access and download your files digitally.

02What apps and devices do your products work with?

Most of my planners, notebooks, and journals are designed for compatible PDF note-taking apps, such as Goodnotes, Noteful, Noteshelf, CollaNote, and Penly.

You can use them on supported iPads, Android devices, and computers, depending on the app and product.

Some advanced features, such as Apple Shortcuts integrations, require specific devices.

i

For more information, visit Getting Started → Apps & Compatibility.

03Do I need a stylus or Apple Pencil?

Not necessarily!

You can use typing tools or your finger in compatible apps. However, a stylus can make handwriting, drawing, and decorating much easier.

04Can I use my planner on multiple devices?

Yes! You can use your planner on your own compatible devices. However, transferring or syncing your notes depends on the note-taking app you're using.

05Will my handwritten notes sync between devices?

That depends on your note-taking app! Some apps support cloud syncing, while others require manual transfers. Fureesia Planners don't have built-in syncing, so make sure to check your app's settings.

06Can I use my planner offline?

Yes! Once you've downloaded and imported your planner into a compatible app, you can use it offline. You'll only need an internet connection for downloading, syncing, or certain app-specific features.

07Can I customize my planner?

Of course! You can add handwriting, text, highlights, images, and digital stickers. Depending on your app, you can also duplicate, rearrange, or add pages. Just keep in mind that the original layouts and hyperlinks are built into the PDF.

08Will my tasks automatically appear across different planner pages?

No. Fureesia Planners are interactive PDFs, so anything you write on a daily page won't automatically appear on your weekly or monthly pages. You'll need to transfer your entries manually.

09Can I connect my planner to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Reminders?

Yes! Most of my digital planners include Apple and/or Google integrations that allow you to quickly create events or reminders directly from your planner using built-in hyperlinks.

However, this is not automatic syncing. Events or reminders you create will be saved in your Apple or Google apps, but they won't automatically appear on your planner pages. Similarly, changes made in your calendar or reminders app won't update your planner.

You'll need to manually add those details to your planner if you want them to appear there.

Think of it as a convenient shortcut between your planner and your favorite calendar or reminders app, rather than a two-way sync!

10Do I need to have ADHD to use Fureesia planners?

Not at all! While I design my ADHD-friendly planners with attention, organization, and overwhelm in mind, anyone can enjoy them. They're made to support different planning styles, whether you have ADHD or not.

11Do you take custom orders?

I'm currently not accepting custom orders or offering individual product customizations.

However, I'm always happy to hear your suggestions and feedback for future products!

Orders & Downloads

12Do I need a Gumroad account to purchase?

No! You can purchase my products without creating a Gumroad account.

After checkout, Gumroad sends a receipt containing a link to your digital files.

If you'd like to keep your purchases in one place, you can create a Gumroad account using the same email address you used during checkout.

13I didn't receive my order confirmation. What should I do?

First, check your Spam, Junk, or Promotions folder for an email from Gumroad.

You can also check your Gumroad Library if you have an account associated with your purchase.

If you still can't find your order, visit Troubleshooting → Download Issues for further instructions.

14I lost my downloaded file. Can I download it again?

Yes! You can normally access your purchased files again using the View Content link in your original Gumroad receipt.

If you have a Gumroad account, you can also find your purchases in your Library.

I recommend saving a backup of your original files somewhere safe.

Freebies & Previews

15Can I try a planner before purchasing?

Of course! I offer free previews of selected products so you can explore the layouts, test the hyperlinks, and check compatibility before buying. Visit my Try Before You Buy page to get started.

16What's the difference between a free preview and the full planner?

A free preview includes a limited selection of pages or features for you to try. The full planner includes all the layouts, navigation, and tools listed in the product description.

17Do I need to subscribe to download freebies?

Not necessarily! Many freebies can be downloaded without subscribing. If a particular freebie requires an email signup, I'll let you know before downloading.

Updates & Support

18Will I receive updates to products I've purchased?

If I release an update to a product you've already purchased, I may make the updated files available through your original Gumroad purchase. Major new editions, such as a planner for a new calendar year, are separate products unless stated otherwise.

19Can I suggest a feature for a future planner?

Absolutely! I love hearing your ideas and suggestions. Your feedback helps me improve future Fureesia products, so feel free to share what you'd love to see here!

Still Have a Question?

Couldn't find the answer you were looking for? You can explore the other guides in my Support Hub or contact me.

Please check the relevant guide first so I can get your issue resolved as quickly as possible.

I'm always happy to help! ♡
